Hey lovely, how are you? I know it’s been a while since we’ve spoken on this platform, but I’m back. So, I’ve been inundated with so much lately- in what feels like a short amount of time. I’m currently in school obtaining my Doctorate Degree in Christian Education, I’m running my businesses, taking care of my children and doing my absolute best to be present for them, as well as maintaining a healthy marriage, helping out in ministry, preparing for the launch of my new products, and the list goes on. With this being said, let’s talk about mental wellness and beauty because they most definitely go hand and hand.
It’s so easy to burnout mentally with so much going on. I understand exactly why some women look like everything that they’re going through? Let’s be honest, sometimes life just gets rough. It could be that they don’t know how to prioritize, a lack of support, unrealistic expectations, or maybe the pressure of their tasks simply get the best of them. They begin to spiral out of control and all projects, efforts, and everything else become obsolete. What a danger! As many times as it’s said, when will we truly realize that our mental state is directly connected to our beauty regimen.
A regimen is defined as a systematic plan; a regular course of action. Did you here that? •Systematic : relating to or consisting of a system. •Regular : constituted, conducted, scheduled, or done in conformity with established or prescribed usages, rules, or discipline 2a: recurring, attending, or functioning at fixed, uniform, or normal intervals. What happens when we as women are not systematically and regularly caring for ourselves? I will tell you what happens…. DISASTER!
Opposed to what many believe, the first part of a healthy beauty regimen takes place internally. We are all spiritual beings and when our spirits are depleted 𝑒𝓋𝑒𝓇𝓎𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑔 else follows suit, our physical appearance, mental wellness, health… Everything takes a hit. So what can we do?
We are right at the ingress of a brand new year. Let’s not wait for its arrival to constitute resolutions for self-care but let’s start today. We can start by having a plan.
Be intentional with prioritizing most important to least important tasks.
Don’t allow yourself to become overwhelming consumed about getting things done. Remember, one day at a time.
Cultivate healthy daily meditation practices. Don’t veer from meditation practices. Make this a staple in your daily routine. Things in life will change but this is one thing that NEVER has to.
If possible, learn how to lean on your support system. This helps lessen your load. Just the feeling of knowing someone cares about your well being makes things a bit better.
Let go of unrealistic expectations. Stop expecting yourself to operate at %100 every single day. Everyone has a 𝒹𝑜𝓌𝓃 day and thats ok.
Know that no matter what, who you are is constant!!! Didn’t meet a deadline (you’re still qualified) Couldn’t complete a certain task (you’re still capable) Failed at a endeavor (you’re still able) Missed an event because you were exhausted (you’re still supportive)….
What I’m trying to tell you to do is make time for you. Not your tasks only! But for you! Your mental wellness and beauty care intertwine. When you have a beauty regimen that includes catering to the inner and outer you, you arrive at a place called thrive. Your spiritual and natural beauty are important. Don’t just show up for others, show up for you too. If you’ve never had a beauty regimen slowly begin to incorporate things that directly affect your spiritual growth and natural glow. I heard someone say “slow and steady wins the race.”
